my good friend who is a big car buff and autocrosses all the time in SoloII works at the BMW dealership here in town; he testdrives all the cars they got ONE M3 in not too long ago... it was brand new then instantly it was taken away again; but no one had bought it... my friend talked to his supervisor who talked to his supervisor; and got some info that the cars had been recalled due to severe camshaft wear from the valvesprings... and there's a wharehouse for BMW with 300-400 of them sitting because they do not want them sold to cause a customer service issue... and then you put 2 and 2 together... why has NO magazine reported this... i've heard this from two other people as well; out of state... both of them i met on a forum... so this isn't just an isolated incident; or was... the new M3s are prolly fixed now... BMW prolly wanted this to be a completely transparent issue and for customers to not even know it took place... BMW has had reliability problems in the past; their new fleet is much better now; but hearing their premiere affordable sports/race car is unreliable would not bode well for the company...
